Principal’s Report

Dear Parents, Students and Teachers,

We have just concluded a very successful and eventful term 3, full of exciting activities. With the busiest term ahead of us, we have a lot of important learning to come to finish the year positively. Term 3 interim reports are on their way. This report is a significant indication of your daughter’s academic progress in each of her subjects and her participation and approach to her learning. I want you to take the time to look at your daughter’s achievements so far and discuss with her strategies to meet any challenges that have been underlined in the report. In this way, she will prepare herself for continued success in Term 4. If you are unsatisfied with your daughter’s marks, I strongly advise you to organise face to face meeting with her teacher.

The end of Term 3 also means that our Year 12 students are approaching a very important stage of their life. Eternal VCE Unit 3 & 4 exams are quickly approaching and the results will determine what our students will be exploring in their adult education. In preparation, Sirius College provides supportive revision sessions. I strongly advise Year 12 students to attend the revision sessions being held at school over the holidays, and in addition, ensure that they continue their study at home. I am proud to announce we are organising our second VCE Study Camp after its achievement in 2016. I highly recommend you to send your year 12 child to this camp. I would like to thank all my teachers and administration staff for organising the camp. Lastly please keep the Year 12s in your prayers for their VCE exams.

As I mentioned earlier, this term was full of hands on activities. One of them was the Science Fair. It was very well organised, engaging activity for the students. It was wonderful to see the students producing products and demonstrating them in the stalls. I am proud of my students and teachers initiative. Congratulations to Science Department, students and of course Jamie, our brilliant Laboratory Technician.

Another huge event which created Sirius College history was Annie JR the musical. It was a fantastic event, I’m sure you enjoyed it too. Our performances were incredible, including my outstanding cameo performance as a police officer. This event helped nurture our students’ hidden talents, and provide them with an opportunity to perform to their peers and families. It was amazing to witness their talent and I am proud of them. I would like to send my special thanks to the Drama and Music teachers, Ms Anna and Ms Madeleine, and all my teachers who helped us to make the event happened. Also I would like to thank our grade 4 teacher Ms Sozer for her assistance with colouring our event with grade 4 students.

As you are aware, the Feast of Sacrifice Eid is over. Qurban is a time where humans shred a heart of greed and selfishness, and fulfill it with beauty. We all participate in a very profound cause understanding, giving and helping the poor and needy. We believe that as a school community and with our collective efforts we can make a significant difference in the lives of those less fortune. The donations collected from the 2017 Qurban Campaign sent to Uganda, Kenya, Philippines, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Thank you very much for your contribution.

It is the culture of Sirius College to help people who are suffering. We are helping the people of Rohingya this year. They need your donations. Please go to gofundme web site for your generous donations. Money will be sent through the human appeal organization.

I would like to finish with a quote from Benjamin Franklin “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn”

Have a Nice holiday
